No, I'm not comparing Rondo to Jordan, Bird, etc. My whole point is that if you're winning, you can be as stubborn and arrogant as you want.

And I totally agree that its a smart move to shop Allen. But if you're concerned with building for the future, I really don't think Ainge can do much better than a stud 23 year old PG. At least keep Rondo for this season, and if Ainge feels like he HAS to move him, there should be some great deals out there next summer.

It will be interesting to see what goes down....given the amount of trade activity we've already seen this off-season nothing will surprise me.

Are you really comparing Jordan, Bird, Wilt etc. to Rondo? The reason why nobody really cared about those guys being stubborn ( I wouldn't call jordan or bird stubborn, ultra competitive would probably be more appropriate) is because they were MVP-caliber players. Rondo has shown spurts of MVP-caliber play, but until he is more consistent, I'd save the hyperbole for another few years (and I am someone who usually cannot stand people not giving a young player a chance to grow).

In the end, I think it was just due diligence on Ainge's part to go out there and see what he could get for Rondo and/or Allen. The biggest mistake in Celtics history was hanging on to the Big 3 for too long and Ainge is thankfully aware of that. He doesn't want to see a repeat of the early 90's when we were trotting out such studs as Pervis Ellison, Eric Montross, and Acie Earl. Maybe this lights a spark under Rondo (which I believe is Ainge's true intention) to do a better job in dealing with his teammates, but Ainge owed it to the team to at least find out what value Rondo had on the open market.

After what happened last year, it is pretty obvious that our Celtics just need a legit player on the wing to come off the bench (supposedly that player will be Dahntay Jones) and some size off the bench to help out Perk. They add that and I think we can both agree they will be hanging up #18.

Ok Nick, you proved me wrong on the Joe Johnson/Rogers trade. Either way, Ainge has made a few questionable trades over the years (Raef Lafrentz and the #7 pick that turned into Brandon Roy for Telfair and Theo Ratliff)

If you're the Celtics I still don't understand why you would trade him. There's a ridiculously long list of All Stars who have labeled as "arrogant" or "stubborn" (did I spell it right that time?). Jordan, Bird, Wilt, Kobe, Barkley, Pierce....I could go on all day. Doesn't mean they're not winners.

As far as fact checking goes, I didn't go to MCLA so I'm probably not as skilled in that area as you. Although I've never heard of "MCLA" - must be some obscure Ivy league school?

Either way, thanks for your comment.

Uhm, newsflash... Danny Ainge wasn't the one pulling the trigger on the Joe Johnson for Rodney Rogers trade; that was the immortal Chris Wallace. 2003 was Ainge's first year as an executive for the Celtics.

Two, the Rondo is stubborn ( only 2 B's there) and impossible to coach has been a tag that has followed Rondo since his days at Kentucky, so there is merit there ( look it up, Kentucky press archives work wonders). Also, I am not sure if you are aware of this, but to further prove the arrogance and nonchalance of Rondo, he showed up to one of the home games against the Orlando Magic an hour before tip-off; hardly the behavior befitting someone who will allegedly lead another team to an NBA title.

Get off your Rondo crush and do some fact-checking for your little site here.
